After the decoder issues and the laptop issues this week, just now I saw my tv go all weird. I hope nothing’s broken, but if there is, I swear, I’ll stop working in IT, and become a plantation worker, or something. At least somewhere as far away removed from technology as I can.
edit 2 days without power solved this issue. Phew, really didn’t want to buy a new tv, or stop with IT.
Last weekend my laptop passed away rather violently.
It actually made a loud noise when it died (as if something snapped inside), which scared the hell out of me.
It’s been dead ever since, no response to the charger, and I don’t trust the insides of the device anymore.
It really upset me, I was in tears, because I fear I’ve lost a lot of data yet again.
I had bought an external hard drive to put backups on, and I had planned to do that this weekend, but before I could start on making the backups the laptop just died on me.
It’s been a hell of a weekend anyway. On Friday I had huge issues installing a piece of software, that should’ve been click and done.
On Saturday my digital tv decoder broke, and on Sunday my laptop died.
The digital tv thing has been sorted with a new-ish decoder.
The software issue is still lingering, but without a laptop, it’s no use installing it.
And a new laptop is due to arrive today.
So lets hope that my bad tech-karma has righted itself. I’m still not sure what I did to have deserved this much pain in one weekend.
